The American
Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) ACLS course is designed for to teach health care providers who have
the ability and/or requirement to function on a higher level of care
when dealing with patients presenting with signs of Acute Coronary
Syndrome (ACS), Stroke, and other cardiopulmonary emergencies requiring
intervention at the advanced level. This course uses a
problem-oriented, scenario-based educational approach combined with group
teaching and evaluation stations designed for adult learners. At a
minimum, participants must master the cognitive and psychomotor skills
necessary to manage and evaluate the first 10 minutes of a witnessed,
adult Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) cardiac arrest. |
|
The course covers
case studies outlined by the emergency cardiac care guidelines of the American
Heart Association. The class consists of participative lecture as well as
informative and interactive didactic sessions. Courses and instructors are
certified by the American Heart Association.

ACLS Full Provider Course This 2-day course
is designed to prepare the first time student as a provider in
ACLS. Adequate knowledge in ECG interpretation and pharmacology for
ACLS/PALS is a prerequisite for successful completion.
T he
ACLS Provider Course is designed to provide
participants with the information needed to recognize adults who are at
risk for cardiopulmonary arrest, strategies to prevent arrest, and the cognitive
and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize those in cardiopulmonary arrest.
This 2 day full provider course
covers the foundations of diagnosis and rapid treatment of various cardiac
and neurological emergencies encountered in the prehospital and clinical
settings.
|
 |
ACLS Renewal Course
Attendees will participate in teaching and
evaluation scenarios that review the necessary skills needed to manage the
first 10 minutes of an actual resuscitation. This one-day course
has been designed for individuals that have an ACLS Provider card that will
expire soon or that have prior ACLS training. (The recommended renewal
interval for all AHA courses is 2 years.)
|
 |
This new and exciting
version of ACLS is geared towards EMS and Prehospital based professionals.
This version has the same objectives as the standard ACLS program with the
exception that circumstantial scenarios and test questions will be based on the
prehospital setting including items such as calling for assistance, local and
state protocols, and with more scene settings geared more towards the
prehospital setting. The ACLS for EMS versions of the test have questions
that vary from the other versions due to scope of practice. These
variations however, do not alter the objective tested between the exams. |
|
The ACLS for EMS is
geared towards the established prehospital professional (EMT-B, Paramedic,
Flight Nurse, etc.) and is therefore usually executed as a Renewal Course.
This course is 8 hours in duration. This course can, however, be given as
a 2 day course for first time students to the program. Please call for
details. Providers who intend to take a renewal course
are expected to have a current Provider card to participate in a
renewal course
